Sharing stories with purpose.

Our first issue.

We are so proud to share our first issue of BĀSED. with you. Each article in the magazine highlights an innovator, business or organization that is working to contribute, in their unique way, to Puerto Rico’s entrepreneurial community.

This collection of stories reflects our first bid to create a platform devoted to amplifying the voices of a truly creative, innovative and expansive ecosystem of startups, small businesses, coworking spaces, service providers, industry titans and non-profits.

Many of these pieces explore the intersecting challenges of building a business from the ground up. Some include companies established during or in the aftermath of Hurricanes María and Irma. Others explore the impacts of the 2020 earthquakes on the business community in the southern part of the island. Our hope is that each story acts as a resource, a beacon, or a kind of blueprint, for entrepreneurs not only in Puerto Rico, but also across the Caribbean and in developing economies everywhere.

Even as the effects of the coronavirus pandemic continue to ripple across societies and economies worldwide, we at BĀSED. have been humbled and transformed by these stories of triumph, loss and restoration in entrepreneurship. Our second issue will be available in both Spanish and English, with special attention to the ways that entrepreneurs and businesses are pivoting, adapting or evolving in response to the pandemic.

As a team and as a company, we commit to doing our part to cultivate an entrepreneurial community rooted in equity, care and support, engaging in meaningful dialogue with our audiences and sharing stories with purpose.

With joy,
